Welcome to Addis Stay. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

Important: This app does not create user accounts and does not store personal user data on any server beyond what is necessary for booking functionality.

2. Data Collection & Usage

We do not create user accounts. We collect minimal data necessary for booking services.

  • Booking Information: When you make a booking, we collect your name, phone number, nationality, check-in/check-out dates, and number of guests to process your reservation.
  • Booking Tracking: If you use the "Track Booking" feature, we process the Booking ID and the last 4 digits of your phone number solely to verify and display your booking status.
  • Technical Data: We may process technical data (such as IP address) required for standard internet communication with our servers.

3. Payment Information

Important: We do not process credit card payments directly. All payments are handled through third-party services.

  • Deposit Payments: We require a deposit (25-30% of total price) to confirm bookings.
  • Payment Methods: We support Telebirr (local Ethiopian payment) and PayPal (international payment) for deposit payments.
  • Telebirr Payments: When you pay via Telebirr, you upload a payment screenshot which is stored securely and used solely to verify your payment.
  • PayPal Payments: When you pay via PayPal, you are redirected to PayPal's secure website. We receive only the transaction confirmation, not your card details.
  • Payment Records: We keep records of payment status and verification for booking management purposes.

4. Device Permissions

We request the following permissions only when needed:

  • Photo Gallery Access: Required only when you choose to upload a payment proof screenshot. We access your gallery solely to let you select an image for payment verification. We do not access, scan, or collect any other photos from your device.
  • Internet Access: Required for app functionality, loading property listings, and processing bookings.

Note: We do not request camera access. Payment proof is uploaded from your existing screenshots in the gallery.

5. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your data when the law allows us to:

  • Bookings: To process and manage your property bookings.
  • Verification: To verify payment proofs and confirm reservations.
  • Communication: To facilitate direct communication between you and property owners via WhatsApp.
  • Status Updates: To verify booking status upon your request.
  • Improvements: To improve our app and services.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your data with:

  • Property Owners: Your booking details (name, phone, dates) are shared with property owners to facilitate your stay.
  • WhatsApp Communication: When you contact an owner via WhatsApp, your phone number will be visible to them through the WhatsApp application.
  • Payment Processors: PayPal receives necessary transaction data when you choose PayPal payment. Telebirr payment proofs are stored on our secure servers.
  • Cloud Storage: Payment proof images are stored on secure cloud servers (Cloudflare R2) for verification purposes only.
  • Service Providers: Who provide IT and system administration services.

7. Data Retention

  • Booking Data: Retained for the duration of your stay and as long as necessary for customer service and legal purposes. You may request deletion after your stay is completed.
  • Payment Proofs: Retained as long as necessary for payment verification and dispute resolution. You may request deletion after your booking is completed.
  • Technical Logs: Retained for security and debugging purposes as needed.

8. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way:

  • Encryption: Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure Storage: Secure cloud storage with access controls
  • Audits: Regular security audits

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request access to your booking data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data after your stay
  • Withdraw: Withdraw consent for data processing

10. Data Deletion Request

How to Request Data Deletion: You can request deletion of your personal data at any time after your booking is completed.

To request deletion of your data, please contact us via:

  • WhatsApp: Contact us through the app's support section

Please include your Booking ID and phone number in your request so we can verify your identity and locate your data.

We will process your deletion request within 30 days and confirm once your data has been removed from our systems.
